Colvin Run Mill Historic Site Park
Colvin Run Mill Historic Site Park

Little did we know that there is a Historic Park in our own backyard; and a very important one that has ties to the growth and evolution of The United States and to the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Also, Colvin Run Road was an old Wagon road that ran from Alexandria to Shenandoah, it was used by George Washington in 1753 and 1754 to persuade the French to withdraw from the English Territory.

The park has a Mill that is still operational and is open on the First and Third Sundays of the month from April - November. Interested parties must sign up for a guided tour.  Grains that are ground on site can be also purchased, that’s pretty neat!

There is a general/gift shop within the park that at one time was across the street (Leesburg Pike/Route 7), a barn/blacksmith, the Millers House and a picnic area.  Also as you enter the parking lot there is short nature trail that can be easily hiked.
